AVONDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
A fatal shooting in Avondale on Friday afternoon left one father dead and another headed to jail.
Neighbors near Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren called 911 about 5:30 p.m. Friday reporting a domestic dispute and shots fired.
Avondale police said they responded to a home on Jefferson and found a man in his 40s dead in the middle of the street. He was identified as Albert Thomas Jr., 44, of Avondale.
The shooter had originally taken off but a second law enforcement agency helped arrest the gunman a few hours later, according to Avondale police. He was identified as Thomas Davis Jr., 31, of Phoenix.
Neighbors tell CBS 5 News the blended family involved had six kids.
Police said there had been ongoing visitation battles with the family and the other father of at least two of those children. It is not clear if he is the ex-husband of the victim's wife.
Friends of the family said the children told them that the father showed up outside the Avondale home and shot the other dead.
Davis was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
