Police in Naugatuck have recently arrested an Ansonia man after police said he pleasured himself in front of a 15-year-old girl that he knew.
James Severance, 32, turned himself in to police Saturday and was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child as well as fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.
According to police, the girl's mother is an acquaintance of Severance, and over the years, he has repeatedly acted inappropriately around her. Police said Severance would often kiss her on the mouth and lay on her bed.
Many of these acts occurred in front of her younger sister, which is why Severance was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child.
Severance recently pleasured himself in front of her, which caused the girl to leave the room, police said. The girl, who is not being identified because of her age, told school officials about the incident.
School officials informed police, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Severance.
Severance was released on a $50,000 bond and is expected to appear in Derby Superior Court on Jan. 23.
A protective order was issued for the victims, according to court documents.
The police affidavit has been sealed until next month.
