Phoenix authorities have identified a motorcycle rider who died after a crash Friday afternoon.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said a 62-year-old James Stoegbauer was on a motorcycle was heading southbound on 51st Avenue on Friday afternoon when a car heading east on Thunderbird pulled into his path.
Stoegbauer was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, said Thompson. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Thompson said the driver of the car and his passenger were not hurt.
Investigators on scene said impairment did not appear to be a factor, according to Thompson.
Thompson said 51st Avenue was closed from Sweetwater to Thunderbird for the investigation.
