Glass jars seized containing hydroponic marijuana and marijuana smoking pipes.
FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -
A Casa Grande man was arrested after authorities found three weapons and seven glass jars containing hydroponic marijuana and marijuana smoking pipes inside his vehicle.
Anthony Lara, 19, was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on Monday.
Sheriff's dispatchers received a call advising them of sparks flying from a vehicle traveling on one of its rims in the area of Chu Chu and Battaglia roads. The caller felt the driver was running from someone.
A short time earlier, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office was assisting the Tohono O'Odham Police Department with a shots fired call in their village. Law enforcement was looking for a light-colored truck which allegedly fled the scene after the shots were fired.
The vehicle, a 1997 Ford truck, was located a short time later on Shedd Road just east of Chu Road in a ditch. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he could see it didn't have a tire but rather just a rim, PCSO said.
As deputies approached closer, they said they saw a man standing outside of the vehicle. When the man saw the deputies, he got back inside of the vehicle.
When deputies ordered the man to get out, he started yelling profanities. Deputies placed him under arrest.
Lara said he was a "medical marijuana card holder in California," according to PCSO.
Deputies found a Glock 17 handgun which was loaded, a Smith and Wesson .38-caliber handgun, .357-caliber handgun and the glass jars containing hydroponic marijuana and marijuana smoking pipes inside the vehicle.
The .357-caliber handgun was later discovered to be stolen.
