MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
Two people could face auto theft and other charges after their arrests following a chase that ended at a Mesa home early Thursday morning.
A Mesa police helicopter was following a white pickup truck that failed to stop for a Department of Public Safety Officer when it took off to Apache Junction and back into Mesa, running stop signs and speeding just before 2 a.m.
The truck stopped and a woman identified as Daniale Strahan got out near Evergreen and Higley. Mesa police said she initially gave them false information but later identified the truck's driver as Daniel Yard.
The truck stopped in a dirt field near Power Road and Main Street and the driver ran through the front door of a nearby house. Police called out the occupants in the house and three adults, including Yard, emerged. A man and woman said they were asleep when Yard ran into the house yelling that police were after him.
An 8-year-old boy in the house confirmed the couple's statement and that they had been there all night and that he had last seen Yard on Tuesday.
Police said Strahan was booked on theft of means of transportation and false reporting to law enforcement and Daniel Yard was booked on theft of means of transportation, felony flight and driving on a revoked license.
DPS was filing a long form complaint with additional felony charges, according to Mesa police.
