A Middlebury man was arrested Friday by the Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police for illegally trapping animals on private property without permission.
Resid Ismaili, 67, was arrested after EnCon Police said two beavers and a blue heron were found dead in the Hop Brook section of Middlebury. Police said the animals were all allegedly "caught in illegal snare traps."
Police arrested Ismaili after he was seen on a hidden trail camera checking the traps after dusk.
Ismaili is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 24.
