The Red Cross shelter that was opened for families affected by a water outage in Coffee City has closed.
According to Bob Fisher with the Red Cross, no one was using the services so the shelter was closed around 2 a.m. on Monday.
Janice Hayes, spokesperson for Southwest Water Company/Monarch Utilities, said only 14 homes were affected by a water main break in the Monarch Utilities mainline in Coffee City on Sunday evening. It took crews a while to repair the break because it was located on a steep incline in a wooded area.
Repairs to the mainline have been completed and services should be restored to the 14 homes by noon on Monday
