MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -

At least four people were injured when a car crashed into a home in Mentor early Sunday morning.

Cops say a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis was speeding southbound on Iroquois Trail when it went straight through the intersection of Iroquois Trail and Comanche Trail and into the yard of 7044 Comanche Trail and crashed into the house.

Sheets of plywood replace nearly the entire front of a house where two small children lived.

Skid marks and tire indentations in the grass show the path that a speeding car took when it smashed into this young family's home.

"I heard a big bang at two in the morning. My wife heard it too," said a neighbor.

It happened just before three in the morning.

"It appears the car was going at a high rate of speed. The entire car was in the structure," said another neighbor.

There were four people in the house at the time. An adult male was transported to Lake West and then life flighted to Metro hospital with serious injuries. Mom was transported to Lake West and treated and released with minor injuries. A three-year old was taken to Hillcrest and later transferred to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and an 18-month old was life flighted to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The condition of the three victims is unknown at this time.

Police took both the driver of the car and a passenger into custody.

The car went so far into the house that firefighters say they had to put a makeshift wall up to keep the house from collapsing.

The house is a total loss.
