Hartford Fest Flick 2012 kicks off at Spotlight Theatre

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
In its fourth year, the Hartford Flick Fest kicks off Thursday night at the new Spotlight Theatre on Front Street in downtown Hartford.
"It's a beautiful theater," said Justin Morales of Hartford Flick Fest. "I could not have asked for a better theater."
The three-day film festival, which has a new name, will be held at the new Spotlight Theatre in Hartford instead of the theater at the Wadsworth where it used be held.
A broad range of films are expected to be screened during the three-day event.
"We have about 28 movies. I would say about 10 of them are from Connecticut, which is very exciting," Morales said. "Connecticut filmmakers are growing larger and getting better."
The movies are also from Ireland, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and other United States cities such Los Angeles and New York.
The festival has several panels with filmmakers and musicians and symposiums about the business.
"They teach you how to distribute your movies," Morales said.
There will be parties at City Steam on Saturday and Sunday nights.
"We have local actors, local producers all right from here. You see a lot of the local venues. You see Steam Brewery. You see Bushnell Park. They're all filmed right here," Morales said. "It's fascinating to walk by it and then see it on the big screen."
Tickets range from $3 to $7 depending on what you're doing and seeing or $75 to do and see everything.
