SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

An alert passerby alerted police to a cigar store burglary in Scottsdale late Monday night.

A citizen heard glass break at the Hilands Cigars store at 6917 E. Thomas Rd. about 11 p.m.

A short time later, he watched as a man emerged from the store with what appeared to be a box in his hands, officers said. Police determined the box contained an unknown amount of cash taken from inside the store.

Officers determined they should contact Brian Kronquist who lives in a nearby apartment. Kronquist has had past dealings with officers for similar acts, investigators said.

Police were able to collect evidence linking him to the burglary. The amount of cash taken from the store was also found inside of his apartment. Kronquist was booked into jail on charges of burglary and criminal damage.
