AVONDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Avondale police have officially listed a man sought for questioning as a suspect in the shooting death of a woman while her 4-year-old daughter was strapped in her car seat, police said.
Michael Hall, 41, is believed to have shot Donella Clauschee several times Monday morning, Avondale police Sgt. Brandon Busse said.
Hall and Clauschee had recently split up, and in August, Clauschee had taken out orders of protection against Hall, Busse said. The order was dismissed Aug. 20.
Busse said they confirmed Hall was driving a red 2002 PT Cruiser with Arizona license AVJ5881. The car has been listed in national databases as a felony vehicle in relation to the shooting.
Officers told CBS 5 News that just after 8 a.m. Monday, neighbors in the 2600 block of South 110th Drive reported hearing several gunshots. When officers arrived, they found the garage door open and the 28-year-old Clauschee dead on the floor from multiple gunshots.
According to officers, the 4-year-old girl was still restrained in the child's seat and was unharmed. Investigators said they believe Clauschee had just buckled her daughter in the car seat when the gunman approached.
"I'm still shocked," the victim's brother, Jeremy Morgan, said. "I don't know what to feel anymore. I'm just numb right now."
Clauschee and little girl were the only ones home at the time of the shooting, police said.
"It's a nightmare right now," Morgan said. "My world has just been flipped upside down."
The child is now in police custody.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Hall are asked to call the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-722 or they can remain anonymous by calling silent witness at 480-WITNESS.
