Hartford police are trying to figure out who tossed a Molotov cocktail at a car, causing another car to be damaged.
The incident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Monday on Webster Street.
Hartford police said a witness reported seeing a man throw the Molotov cocktail at a black Ford Expedition and then walk away.
Police said they're searching for a man described as 6' tall and was wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt.
No one was injured.
"I head a horn going off for a few minutes, heard glass breaking, decided to look out my window and there's a fireman coming up with the hose saying more water pressure because that thing was on fire, shooting flames 8-10 feet above the SUV," said Justin Sweetwater of Hartford, who witnessed the fire.
During three incidents in the city's north end, Molotov cocktails were hurled at a house on Vine Street, the side of an apartment building on Cabot Street and at a multi-family home on Homestead Avenue in June.
For the latest occurrence, this one in Hartford's south end, Sweetwater said its disturbing that someone would do this, adding it just doesn't make sense.
"The owner lives here, real nice guy, doesn't bother anyone, minds his own business and that has to happen," he said. "Whoever did it, definitely had something for somebody."
The investigation by Hartford Major Crimes Unit is ongoing at this time.
