TUCSON, AZ (AP) -
A Pima County sheriff's spokesman says a deputy has fatally shot a man who pointed a handgun at the deputy.
Spokesman deputy Tom Peine says the deputy conducted a traffic stop on a sedan in north Tucson on Friday evening and both vehicles pulled into a business parking lot. The driver pulled out a gun and pointed it at the deputy as the two men were talking.
Peine says deputy Nicholas Norris then shot the man in self-defense.
The man was taken to a hospital but died. His name has not been released.
Norris is an eight-year department veteran and was placed on routine administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
