Authorities say a driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Chandler won't be charged in the case.
Chandler police say the victim was 41-year-old Linden Moffett, a transient who's a member of the Gila River Indian Community.
He was pronounced dead Friday night at a Chandler hospital after a 73-year-old female driver reportedly struck Moffett as he was running across the street.
Police tell The East Valley Tribune that Moffett was jaywalking and had stolen two bottles of alcohol from the nearby store.
They say he had the stolen liquor inside his backpack when he was struck.
Authorities say the woman claims she didn't see the man as he ran across the road. Her name hasn't been released.
