Storm affects shoreline wedding plans

GUILFORD,CT (WFSB) -

At least one couple has had their wedding affected by Hurricane Sandy.

On Thursday, Mandie Larsen and Anthony Sorrentino of Guilford met with their wedding planner at the Guilford Yacht Club, which is the site of their wedding reception.

"It just brings a few extra variables into play," Sorrentio said. "But we're flexible and we're going to get through it and it should be good."

The lack of power is causing a problem for the couple.

"She was planning to get ready at the Madison Beach Hotel, which won't be open till Monday, at the earliest case and we are scrambling to find alternative hotels for our family that's coming in from across the country," Sorrentino said. "And I mean... even as far as Brazil."

Also, their bakery still does not have power and the florist just got it back. The dress maker does not have any power as well to make alterations to the dress, if they are needed.

"It's been an adventure," Larsen said.

A generator was recently delivered to the Guilford Yacht Club, which will provide the facility with heat and light for the reception. The yacht club also has gas ovens and city water.

"Our rehearsal venue hopefully has power back on. They were getting it either last night or early this morning," Larsen said. "So, we're scrambling."

Things are expected to work out for the couple.

"We're just going to enjoy the weekend, start our lives together and enjoy our life together," Larsen said.
