Website helps Arizona residents know judges on the ballot
PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Early ballots have been sent out for this year's elections, and while many of you may know who you're voting for in some of the races, you may not know who's running as a local judge.
Luckily Arizona has a website showing results of an independent commission that's reviewed each judge. It's AZJudges.info.
"It's virtually impossible for any individual voter to independently know enough about all the judges to make an informed decision," said Mike Hellon of the Judicial Performance Review Commission. "That's why the constitution of Arizona has established this performance review commission and given us the duty and responsibility to rend our judgment and report to the voters."
The commission gets feedback from attorneys their clients and others that interact with the judges, and reviews everything from knowledge of the law to the way judges treat people.
