Dole recalls salads over possible listeria contamination

Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling some of its Dole American Blend salads because of a threat of listeria monocytogenes.

The salads are in 12-ounce bags, coded A275208A or B,with a UPC of 7143000933 and have a "use by" date of Oct. 17, 2012.

The company spokesperson said the salads were distributed in the following 10 states: Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause foodborne illness

No illnesses have been reported from the salad at this time.
