Arizona potters create bowls to help feed homeless

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Potters around Arizona have been making bowls all summer for the 22nd annual "Empty Bowls" event.

They sold their designs Friday in downtown Phoenix for $12 apiece, and all the proceeds go to Waste Not.

Then, buyers had the option of having their bowl filled at Sam's Cafe with a modest lunch, equivalent to what a homeless person would eat.

Organizers say each bowl helps feed about 75 people.

If you would like to buy a bowl, they will be for sale Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following AJ's Fine Foods locations:

- Central and Camelback, Phoenix
- 44th Street and Camelback, Phoenix
- 56th Street and Ray Rd., Chandler
- 67th Avenue and Beardsley, Glendale
