A telephone poll commissioned by Paul Penzone shows the Maricopa County sheriff candidate closing the gap against incumbent Joe Arpaio.
The automated poll of 494 likely voters this week asked, "If the election for Maricopa County sheriff were held today, who would you vote for: Joe Arpaio, Republican; Paul Penzone, Democrat; Mike Stauffer, Independent; or None of the Above?"
Washington, DC pollsters Switchboard Communications provided the results:
46.8 percent- Joe Arpaio
42.1 percent - Paul Penzone
7.7 percent - None of the above
3.4 percent - Mike Stauffer
Arpaio's support increased from 44.5 percent, while Penzone's support grew from 39 percent in a Sept. 10 poll.
