A school district in San Antonio, TX, has come up with a new way to make sure students are in class.
Since Oct. 1, students at John Jay High School and Anson Jones Middle School have been required to carry a student ID embedded with a chip that tracks their location while on campus.
According to a report by TV station KENS, school officials hope the increase in supervision will increase attendance.
The plan could mean extra money for the Northside Independent School District as well. If attendance increases by just a percent or two, it could mean more than $1 million in extra funding.
