FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AP) -

A Flagstaff woman has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and other charges in a hit-and-run accident that killed a Northern Arizona University student.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that 22-year-old Kelsey Lou Cody entered not-guilty pleas on Monday to charges of manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a fatality accident and drunken driving.

The Sept. 9 accident killed 21-year-old Jordan Murphy-Mahoney.

Authorities say Murphy-Mahoney was riding a bicycle when she was hit from behind by a truck that left the scene.

Witnesses told police they heard a vehicle accelerate through a neighborhood, slam on its brakes before the collision and said Cody's vehicle drove from the scene.

Cody was arrested a short time later.

Police reports say Cody had been drinking to ease the pain of having her tongue pierced.
