Convicted serial killer Dale Hausner
PHOENIX (AP) -
An Arizona death row inmate says it's too stressful to appear in court on his request to skip further appeals so he can be executed quickly for a series of killings.
Dale Hausner wrote to a judge, saying other inmates tried to assault him during his trial, resulting in tight security procedures.
Hausner was convicted of six murders in a series of random shootings in metro Phoenix in 2005 and 2006.
He said it'd be easier for himself and everyone else involved if he participates in the current Maricopa County Superior Court proceedings by telephone.
Hausner was not in court for a hearing Tuesday.
However, Judge Roland Steinle said he'll want to address Hausner in person during a hearing starting Feb. 28 on Hausner's competency to waive further appeals.
