PHOENIX (CBS5) -

One of two puppies thrown from a vehicle in the Queen Creek area was adopted Wednesday.

Ashleigh Adams is the proud new owner of Mio, a 10-week-old Labrador retriever mix.

A motorist spotted someone throwing a bag out of the window of a truck and pulled over to discover two puppies inside, the Arizona Humane Society said.

The good Samaritan gave the puppies to two different people. One of the puppies was taken to an Emergency Animal Clinic before ending up at the Arizona Humane Society's Second Chance Animal Hospital.

The Humane Society said it has no information on the whereabouts of the second puppy or any details about the suspect's vehicle.

AHS veterinarians found that Mio suffered head trauma resulting in blood in the eyes as well as pulmonary contusions, an injury to the lungs. She was able to make a full recovery in less than a week with pain medication, observation and rest.
