Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is being investigated for a hit-and-run incident alleged to have happened March 27 in Phoenix.

The investigation was turned over to the Phoenix Police Department by the FBI on Oct. 1, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump. The FBI was investigation allegations that Horne had broken state campaign finance laws.

Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery on Monday announced the allegations in a planned civil enforcement action stem from the FBI investigation into $500,000 of spending by a group that was led by a Horne ally.

The hit-and-run is believed to have happened about 12:45 p.m. at 202 W. Roosevelt St. and involved property damage only, Crump said

Crump said the investigation is expected to take several weeks to complete.
