CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

A motorcyclist fleeing a crash just moments earlier was badly injured after he crashed into a minivan at a Chandler intersection.

The motorcyclist initially ran into the back of a car at Dobson and Warner roads, according to Joe Favazzo of the Chandler Police Department. A woman driving the car helped him get his motorcycle up, but he then sped away.

Favazzo said the motorcyclist blew through a red light at Grace Boulevard Warner Road and struck the driver's side of the van. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

A woman driving the van was also hospitalized, but two children in the van were unharmed and were picked up by family members.
