GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies had as many as 17 people in custody early Thursday morning for using fraudulent identifications to work for a Glendale construction company .

Deputies served a search warrant on United Construction Group at 6840 W. Frier Dr. just after 5 a.m.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said his office had been working for months developing a case that identified some of the workers as allegedly using false identifications to gain employment.

MCSO spokesman Jeff Sprong said United Construction Group employs 126 people, and at least 16 were believed to have used fraudulent identification to get hired by the company.

Arpaio said the company manager was cooperating and that the company has locations throughout the Valley. He said 30 to 40 people were at the Glendale location Thursday.

Arpaio said the company had no connection to a construction worker that attempted to enter the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday.

No other information was immediately available.
