Authorities put a Phoenix school in lockdown after an explosive was found near the school on Wednesday afternoon.
Trent Crump with the Phoenix Police Department said officers were removing a trespasser at an apartment across the street from the school when they found a duffle bag with a commercial firecracker that the suspect had altered. Crump said the bomb squad came to handle the situation and the school was put on lockdown.
Craig Pletenik with the Phoenix Union High School District said the Alhambra High School was locked down from 2 p.m. until 3:05 p.m. The school regularly lets out at 2:40 p.m. Parents were notified of the late dismissal.
