Bystanders save crash victim before vehicle catches fire

YUCCA, AZ (CBS5) -

Passing motorists pulled a Yucca woman from her vehicle just before it became fully engulfed in flames in an eastern Arizona crash Sunday morning, Mohave County Sheriff's deputies said.

Francine Virginia Armendariz, 57, was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where she is in serious condition.

Her pickup truck was struck by another vehicle driven by Lance Arbogast, 55, of Bullhead City, who was traveling with his 11-year-old grandson in the area of S. Butch Cassidy Road and Cholla Drive, sheriff's investigators said.

After colliding, the pickup caught fire and burned completely up. Passing motorists were able to remove Armendariz before the vehicle was fully engulfed. Yucca Fire Department personnel helped to free the occupants of the other vehicle.

Arbogast and his grandson were airlifted to Las Vegas trauma centers, as well. where they are reported in serious condition. 

The accident remains under investigation.
