Memorial services for Larry Dever, the Cochise County sheriff killed in a one-car accident Tuesday, will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Buena High School, 5225 E. Buena School Blvd. in Sierra Vista.
Dever, 60, died when his pickup truck rolled on a U.S. Forest Service road in Coconino County near White Horse Lake in northern Arizona, where he was headed to meet family for a hunting and camping trip.
The Dever family and Cochise County Sheriff's Office expect law enforcement and public safety officials from across the U.S. and Cochise County residents to attend.
Dever was elected four times as the county sheriff and was going to seek a fifth term as the Republican candidate in November. He was a 34-year veteran of Cochise County law enforcement.
Dever's death comes less than a week after his mother, Anna Mae Dever, died of cancer. She was 86.
He is survived by is wife, Nancy, and six sons.
