TUCSON, AZ (AP) -
The Pima County Sheriff's Department says a total of 10 corrections officers are now on administrative leave following what authorities said was an unprovoked assault outside a downtown Tucson bar.
Five of the officers are facing aggravated assault charges. Two of those officers have been fired for failure to meet probationary standards.
Department spokeswoman Deputy Renee Carlson says further disciplinary action is expected as the investigation continues.
The alleged assault began early Wednesday morning when a man attempt to lock his bicycle outside the Buffet Bar.
Authorities say one of the assailants punched the man, who then sought help.
When the victim returned with another man, they were confronted by the suspects who began punching and kicking them. A father and son who tried to intervene were also attacked.
