Border Patrol station opening in Naco

NACO, AZ (AP) -

The U.S. Border Patrol will hold its grand opening Tuesday for its new station in Naco.

The station will be named after Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Terry was mortally wounded in a December 2010 firefight with a group of armed Mexican bandits just north of the Arizona-Mexico border.

Two guns found at the scene were bought by a member of a gun smuggling ring that was being monitored in the government's botched gun smuggling probe known as Operation Fast and Furious.

The new Border Patrol station, along with an interim building, covers more than 40 acres and can accommodate more than 450 agents and support workers.
