MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ (CBS5) -

A human smuggling house was busted Tuesday morning by Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies took 19 illegal aliens into custody Tuesday from a house being used for human smuggling.

Each suspect paid between $1,000 and $3,500 to be illegally smuggled into the United States. All 19 suspects traveled from Mexico and were headed to various states. One of the suspects was from Costa Rica while the other 18 suspects were from Mexico.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said a total of 36 illegal aliens have been arrested in the past several days on human smuggling charges. Those arrested have been booked into county jail on a class 4 felony charge.

Arpaio also said he is planning other operations soon for continuing the fight against illegal immigration.

As of Wednesday, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Human Smuggling Unit has arrested 5,659 illegal aliens that were involved with human smuggling.
