SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Capt. John Ferry is a former New York City firefighter who lost a lot of friends on 9/11.
He told CBS5 that the best way to honor their memory is to remember how 9/11 brought our country together.
"We could never have rebuilt after 9/11 and done the things we did without the support from the entire country," said Ferry. "People need to remember how they felt and remember the unity this country had."
Ferry is one of the organizers of a Sept. 11 memorial on display at the Scottsdale Center for performing Arts.
The 9/11 tribute allows people to walk through a display that includes the pictures and personal information of all 2,966 victims that died on Sept. 11, 2001.
"Whether we have a hurricane, flood or tornado, we need to continually go back to the fact we are a community," said Ferry. "We are the United States of America. We can do a lot together."
Ferry is also stressing the importance for parents to bring their kids to see the tribute.
The Scottsdale center for the Performing Arts is located at 7380 E. Second St. in Scottsdale.
The 9/11 tribute is open to the public and free of charge. it runs through Sept. 15.
