A homeowner in Surprise came face-to-face with two burglars in his home Monday morning, police said.
Moments earlier, the suspects had knocked on the front door of the home in the area of 14100 West Lisbon Lane, according to officers. When the homeowner didn't answer, the suspects went around to the backyard and entered the residence through an unlocked sliding door, police said.
The homeowner confronted the pair and one of the suspects grabbed an item that had been on a table, officers said. Both fled the home and were seen jumping over fences to escape from the neighborhood.
Police caught the suspects and the stolen property was returned to the owner.
Anthony Jamal Ross, 18, of Surprise, was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and five counts of second-degree trespassing.
The second suspect, a juvenile from Surprise, was arrested and booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree trespassing and an outstanding warrant issued by the Juvenile Superior Court for a probation violation.
