SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A man has been arrested in connection to the shooting of a Tempe man while driving on Scottsdale Road in North Scottsdale late Monday night.

Scottsdale police said during the investigation, they identified and arrested James Lewis.

The 39-year-old victim said he was dropping off a vehicle at an auto shop at 7255 E. Adobe Dr. but found the shop closed and left driving north on Scottsdale Road around 10:45 p.m., according to Officer David Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department.

Pubins said the man became suspicious when he saw a dark-colored truck following him, and he made a U-turn at Williams Drive, the next available cross street.

As the man made the turn, he saw the driver of the truck fire one shot at his vehicle, striking the door. Police said Lewis drove away, and the victim pulled to the side of the road and called police.

The victim was taken to nearby Scottsdale Healthcare-Thompson Peak Hospital with a minor cut to his leg from a piece of the door that was broken off from the shot, Pubins said. He was treated and released.

Lewis was booked on aggravated assault and endangerment charges.
