GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (AP) -
Dozens of new parking spaces will be available this week to those who want to access the Arizona Trail or ride a shuttle to the Grand Canyon's South Rim.
Park Superintendent Dave Uberuaga says the spaces will help reduce vehicle congestion in the park.
The free shuttle service between the Grand Canyon and the neighboring town of Tusayan is seasonal, typically running from May until September each year.
Visitors to northern Arizona also can use the spaces to access the Arizona Trail, which stretches more than 800 miles from Mexico to the Utah border.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the parking lot with 100 spaces is set for Wednesday.
