PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -

Prescott police have arrested a man in connection with a Sept. 5 hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

Adam Smith, 34, was taken into custody and booked into jail. The charges he faces weren't released.

Smith is accused of running into 38-year-old Wesley Cron of Prescott in the 200 block of W. Gurley St.

The driver of the dark-colored car slowed down just before striking Cron but then left the scene after impact, officers said.

Police said witnesses told them Cron appeared to be crossing the street when the car struck him. He was thrown onto the hood of the car, possibly breaking the windshield, police said.

Cron suffered multiple lacerations, including several deep head wounds.

Cron was flown to a Phoenix hospital for treatment.
