Jordan Doneskey is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student with the approval of the student's mother.
A Phoenix teacher pleaded not guilty Monday morning to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student with her mother's knowledge.
The mother, who will not be identified by CBS 5 News to protect the identity of the victim, pleaded not guilty Monday to child abuse and failure to report the crime.
Both are scheduled to appear in again in Maricopa County Superior Court on Oct. 24.
Jordan Doneskey, 26, is suspected of carrying on the relationship with the teen for several months. Doneskey is on administrative leave from Paradise Valley High School, where he is an English and journalism teacher.
Phoenix police said school officials at Paradise Valley High School contacted them Aug. 23 about the possible inappropriate relationship.
Police said the girl's mother had known since April that her daughter was having a sexual relationship with Doneskey at her home.
Police said the mother had an extensive employment history with Child Protective Services and as a social worker had an obligation to report the relationship.
