PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -
Heavy rain has washed out portions of Senator Highway and is causing closures for travelers.
Prescott National Forest officials said the road has extensive damage and is unsafe.
They've closed Senator Highway (County Road 56) starting at the junction with Forest Trail 215, heading south to the intersection with Forest Road 362.
The highway will remain closed until repairs are completed.
Forest officials warn all visitors to use caution when driving on forest roads during the monsoon season.
