FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AP) -

A former Arizona Department of Public Safety officer has been sentenced to two years' probation in a sexual abuse case.

Robb Evans also must perform 100 hours of community service and is prohibited from possessing or drinking alcohol during his probation. A Coconino County Superior Court judge handed down the sentence Wednesday.

Evans had been accused of walking up behind a woman last summer, placing his hand up her skirt and touching her inappropriately.

The Arizona Daily Sun said the 43-year-old Evans had been facing up to 2 1/2 years in prison. He won't have to register as a sex offender.

Evans was fired from his 11-year job at DPS shortly after a jury convicted him on one count of sexual abuse of the woman at a Flagstaff bar.
