The number of statewide DUI arrests dropped over the Labor Day holiday compared to the same period last year, state officials said.
Law Enforcement officers made 564 DUI arrests over a seven-day period, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4, according to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. Last year, that number was 617.
Only 37 of those drivers had prior arrests - that's more than half the number of last year.
Extreme DUIs fell from 192 last year to 115 this Labor Day weekend.
Also this year, fewer minors were drinking and driving. There were 154 arrests this holiday compared to 258 during the same period in 2011.
