HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
Evidence outlined in a police report that was released Thursday showed a Henderson teen's abductors were involved with human trafficking.
Melissa Duran, 17, was taken from her Henderson home by two men on the morning of Aug. 31.
Alejandro Sanchez-Sanchez, 25, and Cesar Sanchez, 30, were arrested Sept. 1 when police raided a Las Vegas apartment complex where Duran was located.
According to a police report, detectives recovered owe sheets they believe show payments for human trafficking while searching a property in the case. Numerous identifications and personal documents for various people were also recovered, according to police.
Duran's accused abductors made several cell phone calls to her parents, which police used to track down and rescue the teen. But, according to a police report, Duran was leaving other clues in an effort to help police find her.
In an interview with police after being rescued, Duran told police that she was familiar with the TV show CSI and used techniques from the show to leave clues for detectives. Duran said she left items of clothing and jewelry in a vehicle and residence where she was located. She was leaving a trail detectives could potentially use to track her.
"She showed guts, she showed that she had what it takes," said retired Metro police Lt. Randy Sutton.
"Very, very quick thinking and very good thinking on the part of Melissa. If the investigation turned a different way, could it have saved her life? Yeah, absolutely," he added.
The report stated two gold bracelets, the victim's iPhone and license plates belonging to the vehicle were recovered in the suspect's apartment.
Police also said two gray hooded sweatshirts, a tan-colored bandana and a digital movie camera were found.
A day after she was rescued, Duran talked to media about her abduction.
"I'm not going to be the same anymore, but I don't want to be different from the person I was before," Duran told FOX5 just days after her rescue.
Police said Duran had been taken as an attempt for ransom. According to police, the two suspects were former employees of Duran's father's company.
According to court officials, immigration holds were placed on the two suspects. If they clear the hold by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, they will have bail set of more than $1 million.
