MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A murder investigation by the Orange County Sheriff's Department led to an arrest in Mesa over the weekend, according to officials.
Alexandra Tang, 24, a Santa Barbara woman, was found stabbed to death inside a Laguna Hills, CA, home at about 11:15 a.m. Saturday, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators believe her then-boyfriend, 25-year-old Derek Pinski of Laguna Hills, committed the crime and then drove to his father's home the same day in Mesa in the neighborhood near Eighth Street and North Alma School Road.
"There was like five or six cop cars and there was actually maybe eight cops all together," said one neighbor, Pauline Mendoza.
Mesa police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident 8:25 p.m. Saturday.
The sheriff's office said paramedics were called to the California home where they found the homeowner performing CPR on Tang.
Paramedics took over the first aid, but Tang had died, according to officials.
Pinski is awaiting extradition to Orange County, where he will be charged with murder, officials said.
