Authorities say a man drowned Saturday at the Salt River near the Blue Point Bridge.
Maricopa County sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom said the 41-year-old man is from the Phoenix area and had been with a group Saturday morning floating on the river below the Saguaro Lake Dam.
Hegstrom said at some point the man became distressed and went under the water. His body was recovered a short time later near the area he was last seen.
Hegstrom said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Authorities are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
