AVONDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Avondale police said they arrested two juveniles in connection with the shooting of an ice cream truck driver in an apparent robbery attempt Thursday.
Police said the juveniles were arrested at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, about five hours after the driver was shot.
Police said the suspects tried to rob the driver and his wife at gunpoint and when the man turned away, the suspect fired, hitting him in his upper body. The suspects immediately fled, police said.
The man was airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and was in stable condition Friday morning, according to police.
Police said nearby Agua Fria High School, Estrella High School and Lattie Coore Elementary were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
The names of the juveniles were not released.
