LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas teen who was charged for breaking into his parents' home and assaulting them said, behind bars, that he has no remorse or apologies for what he did.
Connor Sherwin, 18, was arrested for the Aug. 18 break-in and assault of his mother and stepfather in the 1200 block of Stout Way, according to police.
In a jailhouse interview at Clark County Detention Center, Sherwin told FOX5 that he was kicked out of the house by his mom before the night of the incident.
"It was 72 hours," Sherwin said. "I went without food and living on the streets, so I broke into the house."
He said he wanted to leave before his step dad came home, but it was too late.
"He wouldn't listen. I told him to put his hands behind his back and I was going to tape him up," Sherwin described. "He wouldn't give in, so I was like ‘forget it.' I just started beating him to death."
Sherwin said all he wanted for his step dad to do was comply.
Metro police said Connor tied up his step dad, dragged him to the backyard and dumped him in an empty pool. Then, Connor's mother came home.
"I grabbed her mouth so she couldn't scream," Sherwin said. "I said, ‘If you want to end up looking like your husband, then scream.' So, she complied right off the bat."
With a smile, Connor told FOX5 the incident was a little bit of insanity, mixed with revenge, even though he said the incident was not planned. Connor said his mom and step dad pushed him to the side.
He wanted to make off with their money and credit cards, he said.
No one answered the door Wednesday night at the home where the incident happened.
According to an arrest report, Connor's step dad suffered several injuries including a punctured eye, a fractured skull and part of his left ear was bitten off.
"The blood was everywhere and it was splattered all over the cabinets," Connor recalled. "He was like, ‘Please, no, Connor. Stop. No more.'"
Police said Connor's mother was tied up with a dog leash but managed to escape. At that point, Connor said, he "lost" and thought about what he'd do when police showed up.
"To be honest, if they would've came, when they were still tied up - for sure, I would've shot it out with them. I was going back and forth checking the windows. I had it already cocked."
Sherwin was charged with burglary, kidnapping and attempted murder, among other charges.
