PHOENIX (AP) -
State Sen. Richard Crandall has defeated Rep. John Fillmore in the Republican primary for the Arizona Senate seat from a district in eastern Maricopa County and northern Pinal County.
Some early ballots remain to be counted Wednesday but results with all of District 16's 40 precincts reporting show Crandall leading Fillmore by approximately 560 votes, with a total of nearly 14,000 votes cast in the race.
Crandall has a mostly conservative voting record but is regarded as more moderate than Fillmore, who has tea party leanings.
