PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -
Police say two Department of Corrections officers died in a car crash Sunday night.
Thomas Santiago Jr. III, 25, and Jaclyn Lee of Glendale, 23, were carpooling to work at the Lewis Prison when the crash happened.
Two vehicles collided on Highway 85 at Broadway Road just after 9 p.m., according to the Department of Public Safety.
On Monday, Santiago's fiancé, Rebecca Martin, spoke with CBS 5 News.
"I'm going to miss him so much," she said.
Martin said they were high school sweethearts and Santiago was a Packers fan and a 2006 Thunderbird High School graduate.
"I keep thinking he's going to walk through the door any minute and just hug me," she said. "His personality was so contagious anytime he walked into a room, his smile would light up the whole place."
Most of all, Santiago was known as a family man.
"His favorite thing to do with the kids would be to go to the zoo," said Martin.
She said they were raising two children and were saving to buy a house.
He was on his way to a graveyard shift with a co-worker when the crash happened.
"I just can't grasp it anymore, I can't grasp it," said Martin. "Just be careful and watch what you are doing because you really don't know when it's not going to be your last day and when you're not coming home."
Santiago is also survived by a big sister and a younger brother.
