A 25-year-old man was killed Tuesday night attempting to cross a busy Phoenix roadway.
The victim is identified as Luke Montoya. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
Montoya was crossing the street in the area of 2500 W. Greenway Road about 8 p.m., said Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department.
He was struck by a pickup truck heading westbound. The name of the 61-year-old driver was not released.
The area does not have a marked crosswalk, Thompson said. The driver of the truck, who was not injured, stayed at the scene.
Thompson said police believe that impairment on the part of the driver may have been a factor.
