Mistake Peak Fire road closure modified

ROOSEVELT, AZ (CBS5) -

Tonto National Forest officials are modifying a closure in the wake of the Mistake Peak Fire which began on Aug. 8.

Forest Service officials are reducing the section of roadway closed. They said Forest Road 609 is closed from Forest Road 416 to Forest Road 486.

The closure is to ensure public safety because of the number of trees that were damaged along Forest Road 609.

The fire is at 5,220 acres and 85 percent contained, according to Tuesday afternoon's update.
